Dr Julia Shekleton

Clinical Neuropsychologist

BBNSc(Hons), DPsych(Clin Neuro), MAPS, CCN

 
 

Julia completed her undergraduate degree in Behavioural Neuroscience (with Honours in Psychology) and went on to complete her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Neuropsychology at Monash University.  Julia has over ten years’ experience working alongside paediatricians, and other allied health professionals including speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work and dietetics. Her work focuses on providing assessment and intervention for children with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders.  This includes autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, specific learning disorders and a range of complex medical and mental health issues. 

Julia also recognises the importance of working alongside professionals in the early learning, primary, secondary and tertiary education settings to obtain the optimal outcome for each child.   She provides training and workshops to allied health and educational professionals, and community organisations. 

Julia has worked in the Paediatric Neuropsychology Service at Sunshine Hospital, and in Metabolic Medicine at The Royal Children’s Hospital. Julia currently works at Monash Children’s Hospital.

Julia is registered with the Psychologist Board of Australia, with endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology and is an approved supervisor.  Julia is a member of the Australian Psychological Association (MAPS) and member of the College of Clinical Neuropsychologists (CCN).  Julia is also active in clinical research, and  has been a key part of numerous research studies and produced  several  peer-reviewed  publications.

As a mum of three, Julia understands the daily juggle (and struggle) of raising kids. Outside of work, she occasionally finds time to go for a run or read. Other hobbies include picking up LEGO, dressing dolls and arguing about screen time.
